Congratulations to our new Bishop Denis

I was delighted to hear that one of our own, Msgr. Denis Brennan {PP of Taghmon & Native of Rathnure} has become our new bishop in Ferns. I would like to send him my congratulations and wish him well and give him my prayers and support.
I note we share the same initials "DB" and the same first name but he puts a cross {+} in front of his name. The only cross I have is on my shoulders and that is trying to learn this new language. Best wishes to Bishop +Denis and our Diocese, "Ad Multos Annos".

Back in Sao Paulo

Hi All

I have finished the language school in Brasilia and as of the 9th of June I am back in Sao Paulo. I am not sure for how long, no more than two weeks. Then off to Mato Grosso.

Address now is {this will always be a good address as it is the Regional House & Mission Office - they will always forward post.}:

São Patricio
Rua Tomé Afonso de Moura 691
Vila Amélia
02630-000 São Paulo SP

Phone: 00 55 11 6231 3485
Fax: 00 55 11 6232 6947

Here are a few satellite pictures of our vila / bairro / city block.

Note how we are surrounded by a protected forest, this is where I see the monkeys trooping across the trees each day. Only one road in or out, which makes it a very quiet area, which is unusual for São Paulo. The Students Seminary is on the right and the Regional House and Office is on the left.

Congratulations to Aoife Kenny {Daughter of Frances Browne & John Kenny} on reaching the New Zealand finals / heats of The ROSE OF TRALEE. Best of luck Aoife.

John sent me this photo, taken in Canterbury while Bridgeen, Mac and Clare were visiting from Darwin:

Finished in Language School in Brasilia

Friday 9th June sees the end of one journey to Brazil and the start of another. On Saturday Morning 10th June about 5 am we head out in my little car for Sao Paulo, which is 1200km or 14 hours away. We leave early so that we can take a break during the heat of the day {and watch the world cup in some bar along the road}. I will have two students with me to share the driving, one from Vietnam and the other from Hungary.

Bye Bye Brasilia {Cathedral}

Of course we are in the middle of "World Cup Fever" here

By the way my car is a "Fiat Millie Uno Flexi" - which runs on alcohol. Isn't it great to know that my car drinks more alcohol that a small Irish Pub. Br$2.50 a litre about €1.
