Arial View of Castanheira. Photo taken from the top of the radio mast in Castanheira. It shows the two tarred streets in the town. The dust storm on the top right is the Main Road {untarred} through the town. We live in the area under the dust storm.
Greetings all, I Am back on line after a long break.
My computer broke down before I went home on holidays this May & June. The unstable electricity here seems to be the reason my computer was fried. While at home I secured a new computer thanks to Philip Scallan of Celtic Linen, Wexford.
It was not ready for me on my return so it was shipped out. It got as far as Sao Paulo OK, but the difficulty started. Brazilian Red Tape stepped in and of course, the job of trying to get it from there to here; Castanheira. I got a note from them saying that "as I was in a remote area there was no regular delivery". This was the the first official word saying that here was "a remote area", something I had already guessed!!!!
The computer arrived by local bus eventually. When I went down to the office to collect it, the office was full and it seemed to me that the whole bus load had alighted to see what was in the big box for the priest. I had to open it there and then to satisfy the locals curiosity. One woman wanted the box it came it!!
THANKS
As I get myself more organised I will post photos of The Pope in Sao Paulo; Paddy's Jubilee; Sean & Pauline's Wedding; Blessing Traffic; Festas; Mother Superior's Birthday Party; and a few other items, especially my new Nephew "Patrick Denis Browne".
