Dinner out in Novo Canaã {New Canan}

After we celebrate Mass in the outlying communities we generally go to visit one of the local homes for lunch and a little rest before heading back to base. Usually a different home each time and it is a good way to get to know the people in the community. This is important since we only visit each of our 28 communities once a month.

Outside the church of "Novo Canaã".

Arriving for Mass by horse back.

The kitchen.
Lunch is served.
This the the first time I ever saw a chicken chasing a cat across the kitchen floor.

Inside the kitchen.

A kitten asleep in a sandal on the kitchen floor attracts a few fleas that become food for the chicken.

A rear view of the kitchen. The hens had a field day at this window as the dirty dishes were left on the sink. The bucket is the sink.

The kitchen stove. I like the stone door.

A close up of a local visitor.

A friendly visitor indeed.
