São Roque {pronounced: "hockey"} is one the oldest communities outside of the town. It is about 20 minutes away. Once it had two schools which are now closed. The young people now take the bus into the schools in the town. It has good facilities and one of the few churches that reserves Holy Communion. Which means the Eucharistic Minister leads a "Holy Communion Service" on Sundays as opposed to a "Culto" service or "Mass".
